Brush with Kindness - VFW Post 391
On November 18, 2010 the Make A Difference Club of Putnam Valley High School presented a check of $1000 to the VFW Post 391 for ongoing improvements and improvements. The group of over 50 students performed indoor and outdoor renovations over several weeks and culminated their work with a Veterans' Appreciation Breakfast for all Veterans of Putnam County. Habitat for Humanity partnered with the club and was also presented with a $250 check for the purchase of 2x4's for a new construction. Students raised funds with a Stay-Awake-A-Thon event and other fundraisers. The Make A Difference Club received the Pride in Putnam Valley Recognition Award from Interim Superintendent of Schools, Barbara Fuchs, at the November Board of Education Meeting. The project proudly recognized the collaboration and volunteer efforts of the group with the school, community members, and local merchants.
